My eighty-year-old grandmother on her deathbed requested her daughter-in-law to save her life, as she was yearning to live more.
She was a fulfilled person who never had enough of anything and everything. Her life was a rollercoaster with lots of troubles. She managed them quite easily and remained content in the hope for a better future.
My grandmother was a vibrant personality but spiritual with good intentions, enjoying the game of life until her death, which was peaceful.
Compared to her, I am a person who experiences contentment easily. I spend my energy on mechanisms and routine. I follow my routine dutifully, feeling more productive today than the procrastinating sojourns in the past.
I do not give up, and never in my life have I believed that my favorite sports star or actor should retire and stop struggling.
Swallow so much and so much more.
As Nathalie Sarrauti is quoted,
“We’re swallowed up only when we are willing for it to happen.”
The pain and life we are experiencing contain a painstaking abundance of drama and events that remind us to move on after every setback. The pain makes us do our thing continuously with a dramatic emotional calmness that makes us feel neither pain nor pleasure. With every new beginning, we manage to leap forward.
For example, after reaching the stage of population control, should the country relax its norms? Should fertility education become less intensive? (Forgive me for this example, I teach preventive medicine). As for me, I propose that one should give birth to as many children as one can afford in a family.
All conceptions before 6 weeks of gestation are female that get transformed to a male fetus if their cells carry a Y-chromosome after Mullerian breakdown or regression.
If we have more females, we have hope for procreation. So we have them, and consequently we have hope for the future.
Accordingly, female feticide has been massively controlled in the country. But we cannot abruptly stop population control measures for economic growth and development in our country, despite a TFR of 2.0.
We cannot have enough of the lives of those living with us till they live, even if not for long. A small insect also wants to live more, as did my grandmother, who wanted to live beyond 80 years, but my uncle could not cross beyond 44 years of age.
Because we develop more wisdom, patience, and harmony with age;
Because we become a bit more financially secure and experts in leading our tribe with age;
This hope keeps us working and growing better even after we retire from our former occupations.
One of my favorite authors on Substack mentioned that there is an 84-year-old man who is convinced that he wants to write and read and, if possible, share his experiences at this age.
Consumed fully is an attribute of someone who lets it happen to them.
As Winston Churchill stated,
“Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about.”
Therefore, I don’t give up on philosophy of wiseness, health and medicine.
Francis Bacon said,
“Philosophy is a great and necessary light, without which human society cannot exist or prosper.”
To think right we need to keep thinking until we get it right.
People of use never stop being consistent and effortful.
People with sincere character are well-intentioned to spread growth among their counterparts.
Intelligent people may keep to themselves and selectively follow, think for themselves and are bright enough to not feel swallowed up and hence develop the patience to continue and keep doing what they do. Totally their call.
